The quest for healthy, shiny hair is one many women embark on every single day! It is the number one thing that people ask about when they are sitting in my chair and if there is one secret it just might be this hair towel!!
Is going darker the only way to have shiny hair? Is it possible to be blonde and still have healthy hair? How can I keep my hair looking full while growing it out?
These are some of the most common things I get asked by my clients in the salon. There is a million factors that go into having healthy hair and one of them is the a quality towel designed to leave your hair in better condition after it touches it, like the Aquis Hair Towel!
In this example I am using the Turban style towel. I am going to walk you through not only my process to using/wearing the Aquis Hair Turban Towel but also why you should be using one!
I am a professional hair stylist and although I do think this towel is an incredible tool to use for any hair type to help keep your hair healthy, for this post I am focusing on my personal review of the Aquis Hair Towel so you should read it with the context of being used on medium length, fine textured, bleached, curly hair.
If you are not familiar with what all of these words mean in simpler terms it should be a recipe for dull unhealthy short hair. However, I treat my hair like the most expensive piece of fabric I own because it is!
I use salon quality products, I don’t wash my hair every day and although I bleach it, I rarely use heat on it and my stylist is the closest thing I have found to my clone and I never bounce around!

Consistency is key when it comes to keeping anything healthy, especially your hair!
Like most people with curly hair I went through a period of HATING my curls. I fried them straight as often as I could but living in the San Francisco fog made that pointless. My hair was always somewhere between frizzy waves and finger waves! It may sounds cute but it wasn’t!
When I finally started wearing my hair curly it was a struggle at first. my curls had been so used to me trying to straighten them they didn’t want to curl all the way. Even now, I have learned that if I play with it too much when it is really wet it get frizzier and less curly than if I don’t.
This is a picture of me with my hair styled as I normally would. My normal hair routine involves me scrunching products into my hair while it is very wet still and using a micro fiber towel to scrunch the water out as much as I can.
I decided for true test of how my hair would dry differently, I would treat my hair exactly as I always normally do but instead of leaving it out and trying to avoid touching it for as long as possible I would put my hair into the towel turban for the first half of the drying process.
Aquis claims using their hair towel will:
- Cut your drying time by 50%
- Minimizes damage to hair while wet
- Perfects and primes hair for styling
“Aquitex is the secret to how AQUIS Hair Towels and Turbans work. It’s an innovative, lightweight drying system made from ultra-fine fibers that are split into strands thinner than silk. They are unique woven to create channels that quickly wick water away from hair without snagging cuticles or causing friction. The absorbed water is efficiently distributed across the fabric, while continuing to dry hair at the point of contact. This helps minimize the swelling and stretching of hair, protecting its integrity. The result is stronger, healthier, more manageable hair.” – Aquis
Without a doubt I loved how my hair looked and felt after using the Aquis Hair Towel! I receive compliments everyday about how shiney and defined my hair and curls looks, something I never heard before!
I also need to rave about how happy I was to be able to wear my earrings on the way to work because I didn’t have wet hair touching them!
So, for the record…
I apply my products, scrunch my hair to remove as much of the water as I can and then I, with my head upside down place my curls into the “bowl” of the towel (reversed from the product directions because, rebel!) and twist, wrap and pin as directed but opposite.
I tested different times out and found that about 30 minutes in the towel gave me the absolutely best curls!!
I will say usually my hair takes about 1.5-2 hours to naturally dry in the chilly Bay Area air. It only took about an hour to completely dry with the Aquas Towel.
If you are on the fence about purchasing an Aquis Hair Towel I hope this review has helped you realize you absolutely need this incredible tool in your life!
